Becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer
in the Outagamie County
Master Gardener Association is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3:
Complete the Master Gardener Volunteer classes. The
36-hour training course is offered yearly at the
UW-Extension, 3365 W. Brewster St., Appleton. Classes begin in January and run through April. You must achieve at least a 70-percent score on the final, open-book exam. To register, call Denise Vander Zanden, at
920-832-5119. The cost is $200.
Sign a UW-Extension Master Gardener Annual Volunteer Agreement. Download the form here.
Provide 24 hours of volunteer service on a sanctioned project by Oct. 1. Documentation of your service must be submitted to the UW-Extension by Oct. 1 to receive your certification of completion. View a list of sanctioned projects here. It is recommended that new members have a mentor (current member) for a resource. If new members are unable to complete the service hours requirement they can take an extension until April 1. However, their certification will not be reflected in state records until the following year.
